Islamic Marriage Master Class [face-to-face]

Allah SWT says

"And from Allah's signs of greatness is that He has created for you, from amongst you, spouses (in marriage)..."

Islamic Marriage Master Class [face-to-face]

The Islamic Marriage Master Class is a short course focusing on Islamic marriage and related Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), and serves as an excellent platform to learn about the Islamic framework that guides and governs this exciting union, especially suited for Muslims in South Africa.

The course utilises modern teaching methods and pedagogies to ensure that you leave the course feeling informed, liberated and inspired.

The course explores the practical elements of marriage through the lens of the Shari'ah (Islamic law), providing Islamic perspectives for contemporary issues. Modern-day challenges that affect Muslim marriages, particularly within the South African context, will be highlighted and discussed.

The course will provide a refreshing outlook on keeping a Muslim marriage on a path of bliss.

The master class is presented by Shaykh Mukhtar Raban.

About the instructor

Shaykh Mukhtar Raban resides in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), South Africa and is a Shari'ah graduate of the renowned Islamic University of Madinah. He is also an academic in education and applied linguistics, and lectures at Nelson Mandela University. He serves as the director for teaching and learning at the International Open University. He is the Head Imam at Masjidut Taqwa, one of the largest mosques in the Eastern Cape. He has been teaching and lecturing for more than 12 years, is a member of the Muslim Judicial Council (MJC) SA, and is also a registered marriage officer for the Department of Home Affairs, RSA.

Who is the master class for?

The master class is intended for those about to get married or in their first years of marriage. We recommend that you attend this course with your partner (fiance-to-be, fiance, or spouse).
Many assume that marriage education is 'counseling', and is actually only needed when a marriage is already facing challenges. This is a major misconception! In reality, when couples are ignorant of the laws of Islam governing marriages, they often face additional marital challenges. It also becomes more difficult to embrace fully the beauty of Islamic marriages when one is preoccupied with conflict. So, don't wait for a marital fight before learning about Islamic marriages. The master class highlights common causes of general marital discord and offers solutions from the Shari'ah to keep a marriage on track.  The master class is structured to offer 'something' for everyone.

Currently, the master class is open to residents of Nelson Mandela Bay as the classes occur face-to-face in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth).
