The Ultimate Journey - Discovering 'Umrah and Hajj is a comprehensive course that focuses on the Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) of performing the 'Umrah and Hajj (pilgrimages).
The course is presented by Sheikh Mukhtar Raban and utilises modern learning and teaching approaches to ensure you leave the course feeling informed, liberated and inspired. It explores the practical elements of the 'Umrah and Hajj, providing Islamic perspectives for contemporary issues that will be encountered while undertaking these life-changing journeys.
Discovering 'Umrah and Hajj adopts a unique, three-dimensional approach to studying the 'Umrah and Hajj: Fiqhi (jurisprudence), spiritual and logistic. All stages of the 'Umrah and Hajj are examined via these lenses, providing the student with a holistic understanding and appreciation for each act of worship.
The course concludes with a practical session in which all students will demonstrate their familiarity with performing the various rituals.
The course is offered in a hybrid format. You may attend it face-to-face in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) or online via Zoom.

Who is the course for?

The course is intended for those seeking a deeper understanding of undertaking the 'Umrah and/or Hajj. You do not have to be booked or accredited for 'Umrah/Hajj in order to attend.

How and what will you learn?

The course makes use of self-study (including online/WhatsApp learning) and contact sessions (face-to-face in PE and online via Zoom). The weekly sessions will contain PowerPoint presentations. Self-evaluative quizzes will be released to provide feedback on your learning. Audio copies of the Duas (invocations) will be sent on the WhatsApp group as well. Additional learning material will be shared via web links, email and WhatsApp.

Virtues of the Ka'bah, Masjidul Haram and Masjidun Nabawi
History of Ziyaarah places of Madinah and Makkah
Recommended Duas for 'Umrah and Hajj
Practical performance of selected 'Ibaadaat
Etiquettes of traveling and leaving home for 'Umrah and Hajj

The Shafi'i and Hanafi schools of thought (Madh-habs) will be prioritised in all Fiqh presentations. Followers of other Madhaahib may request the relevant rulings during classes.

When will the course start?

The course is offered in eight sessions on Wednesday evenings, between Maghrib and Eshai (Gqeberha Salaah times).
The next course starts on 31 January 2024, and the classes will take place on:

The face-to-face classes will be presented at Masjidut Taqwa Islamic Centre (18 Sauls Road, Gelvan Park, Gqeberha).

The classes are delivered in real-time on Zoom as well. If you select 'Online Attendance' during registration, the Zoom links will be emailed to you, Insha Allah.

How much does it cost?

The cost of the course is R500 per person with notes included.
You will also receive the handy, pocket-sized Dua Booklet that can be taken with you on your journey (so no need to worry if you haven't memorised the Duas yet).
An electronic version of the Du'a booklet will be shared with online students.
